Day of the Dead, an ancient Aztec celebration of death, offers untold images for potential mosaics. It is a time when people remember family and friends who have passed on. Many believe that spirits of the dead return home at this time of year (early Nov.) and visit loved ones, feast on their favorite foods and listen to their favorite music. I hope to explore this celebration in tile much more in the future. For now, I have a large mural under construction on my walls which has been great fun compiling piece by piece over the past year.
